Storybooks Brought To Life

Vooks is a streaming platform of animated storybooks for kids. With stories designed to engage without over stimulating, the company’s goal is to inspire a love of learning for every child in the world. Their purpose is the foundation of their culture, so they wanted to work on projects that promote that purpose and make it more clear to their current and potential customers, as well as investors and potential partners.

Selling the impact before the product.

Research has found that reading has the highest impact on a kid's likelihood of graduating and getting into college. However, 1 in 4 children in America grows up without learning how to read at the proper level, and 7,000 kids drop out of school every day. Low literacy rates are strongly linked to lasting consequences such as poverty and crime. This is why Vooks believes that teaching kids how to read and love learning is one of the greatest ways they can positively impact our world. But this desired impact was not clearly defined on their website, and not often promoted clearly on social media or ads. So we began a series of projects to better understand their users (teachers and parents) and design compelling messaging to attract passionate customers who are inspired by the same mission. This included:

Messaging, strategy and production

  • Conducting parent and teacher surveys with over 100 participants.

  • Assisting in the writing process for new titles by interviewing the popular figures they were being written about, such as the football legend Ronnie Lott and olympian Samantha Peszek.

  • Conducting detailed audits of their current messaging and its effectiveness.

  • Copywriting to present new messaging to be used on various platforms.

  • Producing a video inspired by this new messaging to attract partners and investors, with a version optimized for social media advertising.

“Our stories are just the beginning of theirs.”

“Helping kids become who they were meant to be.”
